Anesthesia and Patient Monitoring

Anesthesia and sedation are important parts of veterinary medicine required for various surgeries and other procedures. At Main Street Animal Hospital, we use safe sedation protocols for all vet procedures. Anesthesia protocols are planned before surgeries, keeping in mind the physical status and nature of the procedure and the surgery. A required pre-anesthesia assessment is done before anesthesia administration. All sedation and anesthesia procedures are monitored for heart rate, respiration rate, blood pressure, temperature, etc., with the help of anesthesia monitoring devices during and after surgical procedures. The standards of sedation and anesthesia protocols are always followed.

Analgesia (pain management) is another important part of veterinary medicine that can make a difference in treating some medical problems, which can alleviate pain in various diseases and after surgeries. Our team is very careful in the assessment of pain-related problems and provides the required pain management whenever a pet is in pain. A safe and customized medical plan is made according to the need, condition, and age of the pet, which is then communicated to the pet’s owners. Refills, follow-up calls, and rechecks are done from time to time to address the pain-related issues properly. Conditions like after surgeries, traumas, tumors, pancreatitis, osteoarthritis, etc., need close communication with the pet owners.

We do our best to ensure communication is well maintained. For more information about the anesthesia we use in our vet services, contact our veterinary clinic in North Vancouver, BC. Our veterinarian will be happy to answer all your questions about your pet’s health and safety.
